Well, here we are at
the start of a brand
new year!
2009 was a fabulous
year for flooring trends
with bolder patterns, stripes and colourful floors all making
an appearance as consumers opt for more vivid shades to liven up their homes.
2010 sees many of the trends from 2009 continuing as well as new and exciting
trends emerging. Read on to find out what’s hot
and what’s not
for 2010!
Colour has made a real come back with many manufacturers creating colour combinations of contrasting
colours within their flooring designs. Combine different colours for whichever look you are trying to
achieve.
Striking orange, cerise, maroon and damson create a bold and bright interior that makes a real
statement. Deeper colours such as rich red, purple, navy blue and bold black create a decadent and
opulent look and feel.
These colours also come through in patterned carpets with large monochrome patterns and deckchair stripes all holding strong for 2010.
Soft and simple plain coloured carpets in varying textures create a luxurious, soft look that exudes
comfort and style. This year’s colour palatte consists of greys, pale dusky pinks, creamy beiges,
putty, clay and muted blues, creating a calm, soothing and warm affect. For laminate flooring the theme continues with contemporary greys, white and rustic natural finishes all
in vogue for 2010.
As well as wonderful colour palettes emerging for 2010 textures are high on the hot list. When creating
your room think about creating texture and layers within the space, use accessories such as cushions,
throws and wallpaper to complete the look.
Carpets can create many moods through not only their colour but their texture. Opt for a sumptuous
Saxony to really sink your toes into, velvet or wilton to glide on or a rustic natural bringing the
outdoors in. Natural carpets such as sisals and seagrass come in a variety of designs which can help
achieve a stylish and contemporary look or a more rustic country feel.
Whichever your preference the texture of your floor can dramatically change not only the look and feel but
also the mood of your room.
Rugs are the most versatile
flooring product and can be
changed often to update your
look, revamp a room or keep up
to date with the latest trends.
2010 sees many new rug ranges
on the scene with a look and feel
that will suit everyone’s style and budget.
From retro rugs in contrasting colours, modern geometric patterns, abstract
art motifs in deep colours, luxurious floral patterns and designer iconic pieces such
as the Jack rug, there truly is so much
to choose from.
